About Sharon

Sharon began studying Pilates as a dancer in college in 1992. Sharon's dancing immediately displayed the results of regular Pilates training: longer lines and leaner muscles, improved balance and coordination, higher jumps combined with increased flexibility, sharper precision and execution of movement and superior strength and endurance. In 1996, she graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography and moved to San Francisco where she began her career as a professional dancer and choreographer.

Three months later, Sharon was hit by a truck riding her bike. She fractured her tailbone and suffered extensive neck and spinal injuries. She moved back to New Hampshire and tried every imaginable therapy to get her back on her feet, all to no avail. It wasn't until her mom reminded her to try Pilates, that she began to fully recover. She moved back to San Francisco and received her first certification in Pilates, with Madeline Black at A Body of Work, through the PhysicalMind Institute.

Sharon's performing career took off shortly thereafter: from dance and choreography to jack of all circus trades. She became a trainer and performer with the prestigious San Francisco School of Circus Arts where she learned, taught and performed everything from trapeze(flying and static), teeterboard, chinese pole, to web, trampoline, acrobatics and contortion, to juggling, stilts and partner acrobatics. She also performed independently as "Amazing Inverta", for many charity events, corporate parties, nightclubs, the San Francisco Art's Commission and San Francisco's "In the Streets" festivals. Sharon has trained besides performers from Cirque du Soleil and tenth generation circus performers. She has trained under-privileged children from Oakland with the Prescott Clown troupe and adults who were over-privileged enough to indulge themselves with lessons at the S.F. Circus School! Sharon also taught Salsa and Merengue at a variety of nightclubs in downtown San Francisco such Bahia Cabana and Cafe du Nord. Needless to say, after her Pilates rehab, Sharon's performing was anything but dull! She went on to complete her certification on all the apparatus in Encinitas, California with Kathleen Murakami at Synergy Systems.

After ten years out west, Sharon decided to move back east, to be closer to her family and little nieces and opened her own Pilates studio in Amherst, NH. In her free time, she received her certification as a first degree Reiki practitioner. Sharon's wanderlust re-appeared and prompted her to close her Amherst studio and moved to Florida for 6 months to help a chiropractor open his Pilates studio in West Palm Beach.

Now, Sharon has a tiny studio in Hampton, New Hampshire and also trains at Boston Body, one of the best studios in Boston, Masachussetts. She is happy to now offer one of the internet's first, live, on-line training via webcam. She currently trains clients live, via webcam in Singapore, Los Angeles, San Diego, Florida, Texas and New York City.

During her 15 years of Pilates training and teaching, Sharon has worked with all ages, shapes and sizes. She has trained professional athletes, dancers, circus performers, golfers, marathon runners and tri-athletes. She has coaxed bodies through rehab in conjunction with physicians, chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, acupuncturists, massage therapists and physical therapists. Backs, necks, knees, wrists, hips and ankles are her forte. Sharon has helped many lose weight, maintain weight and even one gain weight!
